Beaverton bakery has been a family favorite for decades. The cake is ALWAYS Delicious. They did our wedding cake and every event there after. After the issues last February I took a break. Not that I didn't trust the quality of the cake, more about how the situation was handled. I used another bakery for 2 more events and their cake way good... but I felt like something was missing. I decided to go back to Beaverton bakery last week and was really impressed with their costumer service. I called in an order the night before and was able to pick it up the following morning. Just because I ended waiting 10 minutes for them to finish it, they gave my kids each a fancy frosted cookie and were so friendly. The champagne cake was amazing ... I forgot how much I missed it.
My son's birthday was ruined. We ordered a week ahead just in case. But these JOKERS took the payment but forgot to bake the cake. The attitude I got was unbelievable. They lost my business for ever.
I got their lemon chiffon cake with strawberry jam filling for my daughter's birthday and it tasted great. Everyone loved it-- guests specifically asked to take home left overs. But getting the fondant design I was intending to was harder than it has been with some other bakeries. They just price every little thing they will put on the cake which adds up pretty fast- that is different from my experience with places like Papa Haydn in the past. I decided to just drop the idea of a fondant decoration and just asked for buttercream instead and it all worked out great.
If you are looking for a cake that is fluffy as fluff and tastes darn good, this is your place. If you want a fancy looking cake, maybe not.
They have a regular bakery shop and then a separate wedding cake shop right next to it. The wedding cake section is basically open regular hours and allows walk-ins for consultation. Just walk in, discuss your cake design with an expert and even get a tasting. All without an appointment! The regular bakery shop is good to pick up some baked goodies or last minute ready-made cakes, but for party cakes, the wedding cake shop would be a better idea!
Bait and switch at the bakery!?!?! The marquee sign read "Picnic Cakes $8.99" PERFECT, I thought (I had $12 on me). I went to the case with all the "picnic cakes" and selected a Carrot Cake. The employee rang it up and said "$9.99" I inquired "I thought picnic cakes were $8.99" and she replied . . . verbatim . . . "$8.99 is for the Spice Cakes." Hmmmmm . . . so I asked her "Why does the sign outside say "Picnic Cakes" are $8.99? Without missing a beat, she points to a price which is on the opposite wall, no where near the cake display case . . . and belittles me as if I should have seen the sign which was Spice Cake $8.99. Again, no where near the cake display case. Bait you with an $8.99 "picnic cake" so you go in . . . when ONLY the spice cake is priced that, and there are NO prices in the cake case?!? If I wasn't pressed for time, I would have gone up the street to the Dessert Tray . . . very clearly priced products. Cheap tactics. They must be desperate for business?!?
BEST WEDDING CAKE EVER! My daughter chose different flavors for her wedding cake layers including chocolate marble, salted caramel, and orange. The cake was so delicious, moist and flavorful and decorated to perfection - no fondant. It was devoured by the guests and we received so many compliments about the delicious cake. We were very happy to tell everyone that it came from the Beaverton Bakery Wedding Shop. I would definitely order from here again!
I plan on sticking with them in the future. Sometimes companies need to make mistakes to become even better.
