Finally seated at 8:05
Bar service was excellent. As busy as it was I found it remarkable how quickly the food arrived. Watch out for the deep fried cheese curds--enough calories to feed 8 but delicious. One of the few places where you can get a pour of Pappy van Winkel 23yr--expensive but cheaper and easier than finding a bottle as a birthday present. Incredible selection of draft beer as well. Their menus are entertaining. Not for kids. I'll be going back.
I've been here a few times before the food and drinks are really good, but you should not have to wait 20 minutes for a drink. There was only one bartender and one server need to have more people scheduled to work. Again the food and drinks were really good and the server was very nice.
According to their hostess they are under staffed in the kitchen resulting in extended wait time beyond what they will initial quote you during initial check it. Checked in at 6:15 and quoted 25-30 minute wait. Checked in with hostess again at 7:00 pm and was told it was going to be another 30-40 mins because the kitchen was behind not getting food out fast enough. She also stated that people seated at the table were waiting 45 min or more waiting for their food because the kitchen was backed up. Beverage selection is great but service and table turnover is severely lacking. In addition they will not take reservations insisting on a first come first serve basis. Still have not been seated for dinner at the time of this post
I now expect to get the slowest and least attentive service possible.
The food is good (when you can get it) and the drink selection is well above average.
However, the only reason they have such a long wait is because they have their services are incapable of multi-tasking and are rarely to be found. Again I have been there no less than 5 times, and the only time the service was even close to acceptable was when I sat at the bar and made friendly with the bartender (who in this one instance appeared to be on top of his job).
I have gone to Westgate multiple times, and after the last time I'm officially done.
The food here is really good, but the front desk can't seem to get it all together. The tasks they choose to work on leaves people waiting to be seated, even when tables are ready. They are not getting people in and out fast enough , especially at lunch time when people are short on time. During my last visit, the hostess completed a takeout order while three parties were waiting (tables were set and prepped). More oversight from the manager would turn this into an excellent experience all the way around.
