I took my Omega watch to this place to be repaired, after another jeweler had severely damaged it during a simple battery replacement (they literally used a hammer on it). Not only was everyone I dealt with courteous and friendly, they also got my watch repaired and looking like new (yay!) within the time frame and budget promised. I don't know why I didn't think of these guys in the first place and instead opted for one of those mall jewelers, but I won't be making that mistake again. Smith and Bevill is one of those hard-to-find family-owned business that provides the kind of customer service some of us remember, but few of us are able to find anymore. I've definitely found my new jeweler. Highly recommended.
Today, out of nowhere, they issued a refund of the deposit without my consent. I tried several times to call them to complain about this whole situation. When I finally got through, they told me that they had refunded the money and therefore had no more dealings with me and then HUNG UP! I was very upset when they reneged on the reservation but their attitude— first for not reaching out to me to clarify the situation and second in their rude responses when I contacted them—made it much worse!
My experience with Smith and Bevill was extremely disappointing. They canceled my reservation for a watch with a bizarre reason. More importantly, their attitude in the aftermath was less than satisfactory (e.g. they hung up on me when I called to complain).
Well my brother went to this business to have a family heirloom diamond set in an engagement ring for his wife. I was there with him at the original visit and everything went well. Unfortunately came to find out that his bride to be was told that "He didn't have to pay for the diamond, you should get a nice band or something to that effect." I am absolutely livid about this comment, first of all she knew this, and could care less. But the Gall of the woman who said it, who in this business says something like that? Next time I am driving by this place I am stopping in to complain directly.
Awesome selection of William Henry knives. Bill Bevill is very knowledgeable in their products as he collects and helped get William Henry out on the market. Great experience and exceptional customer service.
My dealing with them started August last year when I was looking to buy a limited edition Omega watch as a graduation gift to my fiancé. I contacted many authorized dealers and they all told me heir allocated units were already reserved (this watch was very sought-after so units were reserved before it was officially launched). Imagine the joy when I contacted Smith and Bevill and was told they had one available for reservation. I happily put down the deposit of several thousand for the watch. This was August last year. Then the wait began. Units started shipping in September last year. Months went by and I checked in every once and a while. I was assured that I would get the watch, I just had to wait.
Came here when I first was looking engagement rings to learn a few things about diamonds. I felt like prices were pretty high, but the service was great. I came in and let them know I was just getting started and they were happy to teach me a few things about jewelry and diamonds. They also were great salesmen, so if you know what you want, stick to your guns.
Last month, I received an email from Smith and Bevill that Omega encountered some manufacturing difficulty and will not produce all the pieces that were promised. I was incredulous, given the solid reputation of Omega and especially given that the watch had a slogan: “failure is not an option”. By this time, this watch was going for 3 times the retail value on the second hand market. If one allows a little cynicism, this fact makes the sudden cancelation of my reservation a little suspicious. I pushed for some clarifications and got none. I ended up contacting Omega myself. They were not very helpful either, I was told “ If you have already reserved the watch at your local retailer you would need to contact them to inquire when they will receive the watch.”
