The waitress failed to bring back my credit card, so I notified the staff at the end of the movie (15 minutes after getting my check) who said it was nowhere to be found and that the particular waitress had gone home for the night and couldn't be contacted. I stayed another hour waiting for the box office employee to give me the contact info for the owner and manager whom I promptly called asking for an explanation. They never bothered returning my call. I won't blame the theater for a bad apple employee, but fair warning that the management DOES NOT CARE if things go wrong. I actively avoid this theater at all costs now.
The reason though I am leaving a 1 star review is because of the overall cleanliness of the theater. After being open for 8 years, the seats are getting worn. Each theater has a very distinct and unpleasant smell that becomes less tolerable with each visit.
Cientopia has a great selection of up and coming movies, good food, good drinks. The only major thing that is no bueno is the parking is horrible. My recommendation is get there early and car pool as pace is limited.
Hosted a large event here a few weeks ago. The event planning team was awesome! I would definitely use this venue again for events.
First off, place is decent. Seats are comfortable. Sound system is magical. But most importantly, the service sucked. Worst ever. Hall of fame bad. Concession stand dude threw a straw for me to catch that went straight to the floor. They ain't aerodynamic! And I don't play catch with strangers, dogs do. Talked about how reliable his debit card and bank was for 3 minutes when one of ours didn't work. Mind you, the same debit card that I used to pay for our tickets. And we were already late for our showing. I could go on, but I've already wasted too much time. Willing to pay more at other Portland locations to never deal with y'all again.
Been coming here since 2009 and it has been our family go-to movie theater. We love the ease of parking and the food.
I really hope this review is taken constructively. Change the carpet, sanitize the theater, and get rid of the horrible smell.
