When it come to 'strip malls' Cedar Hills Crossing is really nothing special. Despite it's location and surroundings, it seems VERY low rent. Most if the shops are 'eh' and the others tend to come and go at regular intervals. I have never seen a mall where the stores cycle so often - there one month, give the next.
Fun mall. The external stores are known anchor stores. My favorite place is Powell Books. A smaller version of the famous Portland store, filled with books to explore.
Ambiance is pleasant. Food is great for the price depending on what you get. I had a noodle dish last night and the noodles were all clumped together on top of the veggies. I had to hunt for the veggies.
I'm here almost daily, since I work in the area. Lots of progress and development happening. I just wish it was better communicated what all is part of "Cedar Hills crossing". But for those who don't know, it's basically the McDonald's all the way down to Sunset Lanes. Lots of places to shop, great place to just chill and hang out. And you got Powell's! So lots to look at
Had lunch at Zoup! I always enjoy that. I was sad that they seem not to have the sourdough roll anymore, but the hot French roll sufficed nicely. There are lots of useful business establishments in this vicinity.
This tells me that despite the malls location, it is very difficult for any type of store to actually survive there. There just isn't enough foot traffic and the draw is minimal.
I guess you could compare it to a Christmas ornament: Very pretty on the outside and appealing but lacking any substance within.
